Setwise

This notice describes how Civaren's Setwise Android, iPhone, and iPad apps handle information. Platform-specific advertising behavior is identified below.
Online play is optional. If you create an email account, AWS Cognito processes your email address, password and account-recovery information. Civaren receives an account identifier and email claim for authentication but does not receive your password. If you choose Google sign-in, Google may provide a stable account identifier, email address, display name and profile-photo URL when those fields are available on your Google account. Setwise uses the name and photo to initialize your game profile; you can change your display name in Setwise. Setwise stores that profile information and your language preferences, but does not receive your Google password.
When you publish or accept a challenge, Setwise stores the puzzle, keywords, selected languages, creator display name, timestamps and inbox relationship. When you are signed in and complete a daily, language or Community board, Setwise stores the puzzle identifier and title, play mode, completion status, score, duration, mistakes, hints, score components, completed path and guess trail. Optional clarity, fairness, delight, replay and written feedback is stored with that play session. Challenges and related attempt records expire after approximately one year. Server logs may process IP address, request identifiers, timestamps and diagnostic information for security and reliability; application logs do not intentionally contain passwords or tokens.
Puzzle progress, recent attempt history, scores, ratings, optional feedback, language choices and received challenges are stored on the device. Secure sign-in tokens are protected by Android Keystore or Apple's this-device-only Keychain, depending on platform. If a signed-in play session cannot be sent immediately, a bounded retry queue keeps it on the device and removes it after successful delivery.
Android's share chooser and Apple's share sheet let you send a challenge link through an installed social, messaging or email app. Setwise does not receive passwords, access tokens, contacts or friend graphs from Facebook, Instagram or other destinations. The destination you select processes the link under its own privacy terms.
Setwise filters Community prompts and generated puzzle text before publication. Signed-in recipients can report a challenge and block its creator. A report stores the challenge identifier, reporter and creator account identifiers, reason, status and timestamp for Civaren's moderation review. Blocking stores the blocked account identifier, removes that creator's challenge from the recipient's inbox and filters later feed retrieval. Reports and blocks are used only for safety, support and enforcement. Civaren does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users; contact hello@civaren.com if an in-app report needs additional context.
The Android, iPhone and iPad production builds use Unity LevelPlay with Unity Ads to display limited advertising between puzzles and to unlock optional online puzzle generation. Ad requests are configured for general-audience creative. Unity and its authorized advertising partners may process an app-scoped or device identifier, advertising identifier when the operating system makes it available, IP address, approximate location derived from that address, device and app information, app interactions, diagnostics, and ad-performance information for advertising, analytics, frequency control, fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Where permitted by the player's choice and applicable law, eligible ads may be personalized; choosing contextual ads sends the applicable opt-out signals before the advertising SDK initializes. Setwise provides an in-app privacy-options entry point and does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission. See Unity's Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
Setwise puzzle content and advertising creative are configured for general audiences. Setwise online accounts and social features are intended for people age 16 and older. Setwise does not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 16. Contact Civaren to report an account that may violate this boundary.
You may delete your online account from Setwise Online. This removes private profile, inbox and ordinary activity records, withdraws challenges you created, and requests deletion of the Cognito sign-in identity. Civaren may retain a minimal moderation report when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect other players, or meet legal obligations. Clear the app's storage or uninstall it to remove local information. If identity deletion reports an error, contact Civaren for completion.
Setwise uses encrypted transport, encrypted AWS storage, short-lived access tokens, refresh-token revocation, request throttling, bounded content validation and a 14-day application-log retention period. No system can guarantee absolute security.
We will update this notice before materially changing these practices. The effective date above identifies the current version.
